Everyday America endorses Vander Plaats in primary
DES MOINES-(May 12, 2010) - Everyday America is pleased to announce its endorsement of Bob Vander Plaats in the June 8 Republican primary for Iowa governor.
Everyday America evaluates candidates based on leadership, issues, and proper interpretation of the Constitution. Vander Plaats has shown his thorough understanding of the federal and state Constitutions. In particular, Vander Plaats has a solid grasp of the 10th Amendment to the United States Constitution and the limitations it puts on the federal role of government in the lives of its citizens. He has also shown his willingness to use the executive authority as governor to instruct the executive branch not to issue “same-sex” marriage certificates. This order would remain in place while a conflict between the current duly passed law and a Supreme Court opinion (which attempts to create and enforce an entirely new law) is resolved. This may be done by another law being passed to clarify or change the current law or via constitutional amendment. These actions will keep the separation of powers in place by preventing the court from making law and at the same time requiring the legislative branch to step-up and do its constitutional duty of keeping the courts in check. This is a welcome change from “politics-as-usual” as played by both political parties and forces the branches of government to do their job instead of just doing partisan bidding.
“Vander Plaats has proved the depth of his knowledge of the Constitution and has shown his willingness to use the full Constitutional range of authority of the executive branch to return power to the people,” noted Bill Salier, co-founder of Everyday America. “Bob is the first person in a long time who really understands the possibilities and limitations of the office of governor and will uphold all the responsibilities it entails.”
It is apparent that Mr. Vander Plaats will be the strongest candidate when it comes to getting government spending, taxation, and the regulatory environment under control. This will spark the Iowa economy and allow both employees and employers to compete in a great, thriving economy. Vander Plaats would also reduce and in some cases eliminate federal and state intervention such as “no child left behind” in education. Schools could be again to be properly funded by eliminating layers of bureaucrats. Students must again be taught the essentials of education by great teachers at the highest level. The classroom can no longer be political laboratories mandated by state and federal bureaucrats. Iowa will again excel at education by accepting nothing less than being the best.
Everyday America notes that Vander Plaats' recent strength in championing the causes of legal immigration, traditional marriage, separation of powers, private property rights, freedom, and the 2nd Amendment shows a fortitude and leadership that is rarely found by people running for office. These positions are all overwhelmingly popular with Iowa citizens across the political spectrum and are part of Vander Plaats’ core convictions. Vander Plaats also understands the citizens of Iowa believe in self-reliance and know that liberty is freedom with responsibilities. The people of Iowa are ready to retake all the responsibilities of freedom. The choice in this election is clear. Vander Plaats has come out with strong Constitutional positions which agree with the majority of people in Iowa. All other gubernatorial opponents from both major parties have both shown ineptitude toward natural law and the Constitution. We can either return to freedom, growth, and the Constitution or back to the politics which have resulted in our current problems.
This endorsement is valid only for the June 8 Republican primary for Iowa governor. As with all EA endorsements, we have the right to publicly retract the endorsement if we feel the candidate is not living up to Constitutional standards, which are the standards of Everyday America.
Funk clearly the choice in Iowa’s 3rd Congressional District
Des Moines- (April 15, 2010)- Everyday America is pleased to announce its endorsement of Dave Funk for Iowa's 3rd Congressional district republican primary.
Everyday America evaluates candidates based on leadership, issues, and proper interpretation of the Constitution. Mr. Funk has been an aggressive leader on the issues in this campaign, and has shown his understanding of the role of a congressman as well as the Constitutional boundaries for federal authority. He has also proved his organizational competency by putting together a strong team of campaign support on a tight budget, and built a broad base of campaign relationships, including many members of the tea party movement along with republicans, independents, and disenfranchised democrats.
“Dave Funk is a tireless worker, who will not accept the current state of Washington D.C.” said Bill Salier, co-founder of Everyday America. “Dave attacks problems in Washington the same way I would, that is to rip the power out of federal government’s hands and restore it to the people just as our founders intended.”
The fate of our country and federal government is becoming more critical every day. Before it is too late, we must elect men and women to all levels of government who understand we can no longer buy votes with campaign promises seldom kept. EA-endorsed candidates such as Dave Funk will help bring the United States back to its former greatness, while staying within Constitutional boundaries, returning power to its freedom-loving citizens.
These times call for a handful of fearless leaders in Congress who will use every available tool which the Constitution allows to stop the massive confiscation of our personal rights and freedoms. Everyday America believes Dave Funk would be a congressman who stands in the breach, even at his own political peril, to save our republic.
Dave Funk is a man anchored in the Constitution and his Christian faith. He will go on the offensive to protect these values for future generations, understanding that our rights come from God, not from government.
This endorsement is valid only for the June 8th Republican primary for the 3rd congressional district. As with all EA endorsements, we have the right to publicly retract the endorsement if we feel the candidate is not living up to Constitutional standards, which are the standards of Everyday America.
Army vet continues to honor oath to defend Constitution
Oelwein, IA-(April 23, 2010)-Everyday America is pleased to announce
its endorsement of Darin Rulapaugh in Iowa for the state house district #18 republican primary June 8th. District 18 is a broad rural area that includes Janesville, Sumner, Oelwein, & West Union. Everyday America evaluates candidates on the issues and the proper interpretations of the state and federal Constitution and the role of government in the lives of the citizens.
Darin Rulapaugh of rural Oelwein is an Army veteran who currently serves as a police officer. He has noted that during his professional service, he has seen how the laws passed at the state and federal levels affect Iowans' every day lives in a negative way. He understands the constitutional limitations of his role as a police officer, and will apply the same Constitutional standard to his role as state legislator. Mr. Rulapaugh is a fervent defender of life, personal responsibility, property rights, and state sovereignty. He will be a strong presence at Iowa's capitol, prepared to go on the offensive to take back the rights of the citizens of Iowa, and to reduce the size and scope of state government.
“Darin has the constitutional knowledge and focus which should make him one of the most effective legislators in Des Moines in a very short period of time,” said Jason Hamann, co-founder of Everyday America.
Everyday America is prepared to support Darin Rulapaugh and encourages everyday Americans and everyday Iowans to get involved and support quality candidates such as Mr. Rulapaugh across the state with their time, finances, and abilities. Elections, particularly primaries, have consequences, and it takes time and your donations to get excellent candidates elected to improve our state and country.
As with all EA endorsements, we retain the right to publicly retract the endorsement if we feel the candidate is not living up to Constitutional standards, which are the standards of Everyday America.
Everyday America endorses Reed in 2nd District
Des Moines (April 1, 2010)--Everyday America is proud to endorse Christopher Reed in the Republican primary in Iowa’s 2nd Congressional District. As the healthcare debate has shown, we need solid Constitutional leadership in the United States House of Representatives. Christopher Reed understands that our freedoms and liberties do not come from the government nor man, but from our Creator as embodied in the Declaration of Independence. We must realize freedom and liberty are the ability for “We the People” to make and carry out our own decisions with our own money. Mr. Reed has proven his knowledge and leadership over the rest of the Republican field in the 2nd district.
Christopher Reed will be an invaluable asset to Iowa in Congress. His personality is one of a statesman who will work vigorously behind the scenes to protect and defend the rights of American citizens from the United States government. He will do this by returning the federal government back into the restricted box created by the Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land. Mr. Reed has served his country in the U.S. Navy and his run for the House of Representatives is an extension of his oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.
"The restoration of our republic starts with this upcoming primary. We must elect people who understand the actual role of the government and abide by the enumerated powers the federal government is allowed,” Bill Salier, co-founder of Everyday America, said. “We must elect and promote people such as Christopher Reed. What we have done before in government is not good enough. It will ultimately bring us back to the edge of bankruptcy and servitude. Christopher Reed understands he must help repeal many freedom-stealing laws which have been passed and restore our personal liberties by doing so.”
Candidates and elected officials can no longer compromise our founding constitutional principles. That kind of thinking has led us to the place we are today. We are now a country that is all about government handouts on every level. Vital laws are agreed to in shady backrooms with special interest groups. As this country has accepted this, it has given us progressively worse and unconstitutional policies. It is time we find candidates, like Christopher Reed, who have a solid unwavering understanding of the Constitution and in doing so will protect the rights of the American people from the government. If we don’t elect people like Mr. Reed immediately, the mountain to rebuild the republic will become exponentially more difficult.
This endorsement is only valid for the Republican primary in the 2nd U.S. Congressional District. Everyday America reserves the right to retract its endorsement of any candidate if they fail to uphold Constitutional principles as written or fails to live up to America’s best principles and traditions.
